Mahasiswa Internasional UIN Salatiga, aktif partisipan di program internasional di UNAIR

I, Mafu Ceesay, had the esteemed privilege of participating in the SEGTA program at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) as the sole international student representative from UIN Salatiga. During these 9 days, from September 6th to 14th, 2025, the program brought together over 80 students and lecturers from diverse nationalities, fostering a rich cultural exchange and learning experience.

SEGTA UNAIR is an annual international program titled Sustainable Energy and Green Technology Applications organized by the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidisciplinary (FTMM) Universitas Airlangga. This program aims to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through classroom activities, green energy technology innovation, and community service, involving students from various countries to contribute to the development of clean energy and sustainable technology in the community.

Throughout the program, I engaged in a wide range of activities that not only enhanced my knowledge and skills but also allowed me to explore the vibrant city of Surabaya and its surroundings. The diverse activities and sessions provided a comprehensive learning experience, enabling me to gain valuable insights into various aspects of Indonesian culture, society, and academia.

One of the highlights of the program was the community service component, where different groups had the opportunity to make a positive impact in Madura and Gili Iyang. Specifically, our group in Gili Iyang focused on real-time air quality monitoring, which allowed us to apply our knowledge and skills to address environmental concerns in the community. Meanwhile, other groups engaged in various community service projects, such as planting trees, installing solar panels, hydroponics, education outreach, and more. This hands-on experience was truly enriching, as it allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems and witness the tangible benefits of our efforts.

The program also included cultural excursions that enriched my understanding of the region’s history and heritage. A visit to the museum in Sumenep provided valuable insights into the local culture and traditions, while an excursion to Mount Bromo, a breathtaking natural wonder, left an indelible mark on my memory. As this was my first encounter with the majestic mountain, I was struck by its beauty and majesty.

In addition to the academic and cultural experiences, I was able to establish meaningful connections and friendships with fellow participants, which led to valuable collaborations and networking opportunities. These interactions not only broadened my perspectives but also enabled me to build a network of like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) for hosting this exceptional program and providing me with the opportunity to participate. I also appreciate the support and approval from UIN Salatiga, which enabled me to attend this enriching experience. The SEGTA program was a truly unforgettable experience that broadened my horizons, fostered meaningful connections, and instilled in me a deeper appreciation for the importance of community service and cultural exchange.

Sincerely,
Mafu Ceesay
